Age 11-13
Language Arts Requirements
- Able to read and comprehend novels at a late 7th or 8th grade reading level
- Able to write multiple paragraphs on a topic
- Familiar with the five-paragraph essay
- Usually used by children in the seventh grade.
Math Requirements
- Can add, subtract, multiply, and divide positive and negative integers
- Able to solve problems involving ratios, unit rates, and proportions
- Can graph linear equations and understand slope as a rate of change
- Able to interpret and solve problems involving area, surface area, and volume of geometric figures
