Unit 1: Place Value
Lesson 6
Rounding to Thousandths
Students watch videos that explicitly review rounding decimals (one video covers rounding to the ten-thousandths though students are told they will round to the thousandths). Students complete practice problems and a calculator check that ask them to round decimals to places such as tenths (4.539 → 4.5), hundredths (3.582 → 3.58; 215.138 → 215.14), thousandths (activities reference thousandths) and to the nearest whole number (43.158 → 43). Students also write 3.485 in word, fraction, and expanded forms, showing attention to place-value decomposition.
Lesson 7
Powers of 10
Students are asked to round a decimal in the Basic Skills Review (#3: "Round 34.152 to the tenths and the hundredths" with answers 34.2 and 34.15). Students engage with decimal place value in Activity 3, where they multiply and divide decimals by powers of 10 and use a decimal place value chart. The parent/teacher notes and wrap-up explicitly list "Review what happens to whole numbers and decimal numbers when you multiply and divide by 10," reinforcing place-value thinking about decimals.

Roman Numerals
The Basic Skills Review #3 item 3 asks students to "Round 78.789 to the tenths and the hundredths," and the answer key gives the rounded results (78.8 and 78.79). Activity 4 (Basic Skills Review #3) is the only explicit place in the lesson text where students are asked to round a decimal.

Problem Solving
The Parent Plan explicitly lists "Use place value understanding to round decimals to any place." In the One-Mile Run activity, students are asked to round times (e.g., 7.25 → 7, 7.82 → 8) and explain their reasoning. The Parent Plan lists as a skill: "Use place value understanding to round decimals to any place." The Trading Cards Project Requirements tell students to "Round one number to a specific place if needed." The project requires collecting four numbers with decimals to the hundredths place, giving students decimal examples to work with. The sample card image also shows an explicit rounding example for a whole number (1,383 rounds to the hundreds: 1,400).

Adding Decimals
Students are asked to round 8.463 to the tenths and hundredths places on the Basic Skills Review #4, and the answer key shows tenths = 8.5 and hundredths = 8.46. Multiplying Decimals
Students are asked to use rounding for estimation (e.g., Round: 5.3 × 2.2 becomes 5 × 2) and to compare the estimated product to the product found by the standard algorithm. The lesson explicitly tells students to round both numbers to the nearest whole number to estimate products and includes a parent note and a suggested video about rounding decimals. Discussion questions and activities prompt students to use rounding to check whether the decimal point in a product is reasonable.

Dividing Decimals
Students are asked to round a number in the Basic Skills Review #5 item that reads (Round 36.782 to the nearest whole number, the tenths, and the hundredths), and the answer key provides the rounded results (37; 36.8; 36.78). Lesson 1
Reviewing Customary and Metric Units
Students are asked to round a decimal in the Basic Skills Review: "Round 22.159 to the hundredths place" (answer 22.16). Students place several decimals in order in item 6 of the same review (ordering 2.12, 2.16, 2.09, etc.), which requires use of decimal place value to compare. Students also solve decimal computation problems (e.g., multiply 266.3 × 3.9, divide 36.6 ÷ 0.3) that engage with decimal digits and place value.

Lesson 2
Comparing and Ordering Fractions
Students are asked to convert fractions to decimal values and to round those decimals (Activity 2 shows examples: 7/15 = 0.47 and 5/12 = 0.42, noted as rounded). Activity 4 explicitly tells students that if they choose to find decimal values they should "round to the nearest hundredths." Several student pages instruct: "Round the value to the nearest hundredth as needed. Use a calculator!"

Practicing the Algorithm
Day 3 Activity 5 directs students to measure box-shaped objects and "round each measurement to the nearest whole unit," asking them to record dimensions and volumes with labeled units. The instructions and table for "What's the Volume?" require students to choose units, round measurements to the nearest whole unit, and then use those measurements in volume calculations.
Final Project

Students are instructed to measure the length, width, and height of each building in centimeters and to "Round to the nearest whole centimeter as needed." Students record these rounded measurements in the Dimensions (L x W x H) column and use them to calculate volumes. The activity requires students to perform rounding of measurement values to whole-number units.
