The majority of Earth’s surface is covered with water, but most of it is saltwater. Through vivid examples, students discover the various types of bodies of water and how they are connected. Different phases and properties of water are presented as students compare and contrast glaciers, groundwater, wetlands, aquifers, lakes, estuaries, oceans, and streams. The program ends with a true-false video quiz.

This 15 minute video connects nicely with the M&M demonstration in Activity 1 that shows how much water in on earth.

to help understand cohesion, fill a glass of water to the rim then start adding nails (or pins or whatever you happen to have) add them one by one until the water comes up over the top in a sort of bubble. this sparked a great discussion about surface tension and the bonds of the hydrogen and oxygen molecules

This is an incredible depiction of how much water there is on the earth. The blue sphere shows how much water is on the earth. The white sphere shows how much atmosphere is on the earth.
