Mystery Science - How can you keep a house from blowing away during a windstorm? - posted from Cohoes, NY

This is a great activity to get kids thinking about how engineers design homes to withstand powerful wind storms. Mystery Science has the entire lesson planned with videos describing various types of strong wind (tornados, hurricanes, dust storms) and then you get to try making your own windproof house. My son had a lot of fun with this engineering activity!

We couldn't get the glitter tornado to work right. I googled and got a better example by adding a little dishsoap and spinning the bottle with the lid on.
