NUT FREE Bird Seed Options - posted from Mckinney, TX
We have to go completely nut free in our home. While using a seed butter instead of peanut butter is a great start, it is important to note that bird seed is considered a pet food; and pet foods are not required to be labeled for allergens like food for human consumption is.
We will make our feeder using seed butter plus a mix of oats, wheatberries, dried and crushed cantaloupe seeds (which we'll save and then dry in the oven, and a mix brown and white rice.
Here's an informative article about bird food options that art safe for our family and our flying friends.
