Lesson 3: Winter Days and Winter Nights

Make some butter! - posted from Suffolk, VA

This chapter in the book discusses making butter. Give it a try at home! I use my kitchen-aid, and it is so easy! But here is another way for kids to do it or you could also use a hand mixer. Remember to keep the buttermilk too!

Pretzel log cabin - posted from Wesley Chapel, FL

Directions: Raise box opening to make a pointed roof. Add some tape on the inside of the roof to keep it stable. cover small box (We used a Cliff Kids Z bar box) with Whipped Fluffy White (or other vanilla) frosting and small pretzel rods to make a log cabin. Your child will have to let each side dry before doing the other side. Place pretzel log cabin on plastic plate covered with frosting and then add small plastic woodland animals to complete the scene. The gloppy white frosting works great as it looks like snow!
