We started reading a fun Scholastic book called "The Thrifty Guide to the American Revolution, A Handbook for Time Travelers", by Jonathan W. Stokes. It's a fun with great details about life in the 13 colonies, including maps. There are other details such as how to survive in the Continental Army in language that will engage your kids. The ISBN number is 978-1-338-32545-4. Look for it in your local library if you are interested.
