Who Am I? - posted from Jeffersonville, IN
I didn't feel like my son understood who all the famous men were. We pretended to be King George and made wanted posters for each of the men who were causing us trouble. We used an orange piece of poster board and cut it into fourths. Each piece was a wanted poster. We found clip art pictures online of each of the famous men, cut them out and put them on the poster under "Wanted". We also put their names and the famous facts about them under the pictures. It was a fun way to glue the names into his memory!
Short Films About Early America - posted from El Dorado Hills, CA
The link below has several short films highlighting people and events from the revolution. The topics are Ben Franklin, George Washington, Molly Pitcher, Declaring Independence, Paul Revere, The Shot Heard Around the World, and Benedict Arnold. They are old fashioned, almost cheesy, films but the content is helpful and can be a change of pace for your child. There are writtens summaries highlighting key events on this link too, both of which would support upcoming lessons.
