No magnetic shield provided in my kit- posted from Southbury, CT
Our steel shield was also not magnetic, therefore it did not create a magnetic shield and the experiment did not work. I used a steel saw instead as a shield.

We also didn't have squares that were magnetic to create the magnetic shield.

The metal sheet that came in our kit was not magnetic (stainless steel?), therefore none of the 6 materials were able to create a magnetic shield so we couldn't initially see the effect of the experiment. We looked around for something in our garage that was a thin metal and magnetic and then we were able to create a magnetic shield and the nail fell down.
