My children really enjoyed making an Ancient Egypt and a Roman Empire diorama. We even had a little rivalry going between mom and dad in helping. Dad won hands down with Ancient Egypt!

I found nearly all of them available from my local library and they are all still in print, available from online bookstores. By the time we got to this lesson my kids were addicted to reading them and devoured them with excitement!
