The website link and instructions for Activity 3 have been updated. Have your child visit the following website to practice finding the area of composite shapes. The interactive tool allows her to create shapes by adding colored squares to a grid. Encourage her to create a composite shape using two or more rectangles. Then, have her find the area of each rectangle and add the areas together to determine the total area of the composite shape. She can check her answer using the area displayed on the screen. Have her create and calculate the areas of 4 or 5 different composite shapes.
