We added a lot to these lessons, such as reading a fairly long excerpt from Mahabharata and writing summaries of each "chapter." There are many Indian fables and legends anthologies available through Amazon (and probably through your library) if you want to try this. I also add a novel each week that ties into our history studies. I didn't find a ton of options for Ancient India so we went with Aru Shah. My dd seems to be enjoying it and is making lots of connections to our nonfiction readings. Tonight we are ordering out dosas (yum) and binge-watching Daughter of Destiny on Netflix!

National Geographic has two videos about India that are great. They talk about traditions and celebrations as well as modern innovations. They also visit many different regions which gives students a great visual of how diverse the country is in landscape and people. If you are doing the other units on lithosphere, hydrosphere, and ecology it also ties in some of those concepts. They are available to watch on Disney+

This has some facts and a game about the Indus people. If you are in the US the videos will not work, but there is still a lot of good information.
