No pectin? Try this recipe - posted from Milpitas, CA

We didn’t have any pectin and not a lot of blueberries either. So we did a half batch of this recipe from All Recipes. It was delicious.

Recall Grandma Tildy also canned food - posted from Milpitas, CA

For Activity #2 when you talk about canning and preserving food you can remind the kids that Grandma Tildy from the story But No Elephants also canned food to save for the winter. This story was covered in unit 7. My kids appreciated looking back through the pictures from But No Elephants and remembering that Grandma Tildy also canned food. This just helped them understand the idea behind canning food more. We also discussed how we enjoy a world market at the grocery store now (we get produce from Mexico, kimchi from S. Korea, etc).

Spanish edition in print - posted from Dundee, NY

Blueberries for Sal is available in Spanish, though I think they are all worn out library copies available on Amazon. Try at your local library, I think this book is popular. Search for "Arrandanos Para Sal". Which sounds funny because sal is salt in Spanish!
