- The present perfect verb tense shows an action that started in the past but is now ended or an action that started in the past and continues to the present.
- The past perfect verb tense shows an action that was completed before another past action.
- The future perfect verb tense shows that an action will be completed before another future action.

- Verbals are verb forms that function as nouns, adjectives, or adverbs in a sentence.

- A gerund is a verb form ending in -ing that functions as a noun in a sentence.
- An infinitive is the word to + the basic form of a verb. Infinitives can function as nouns, adjectives, or adverbs in a sentence.
- A participle is the present participle or past participle form of a verb that functions as an adjective in a sentence.

- A verbal phrase begins with a verbal and is followed by one or more words; together, the whole phrase functions as a noun, adjective, or adverb in a sentence.
- There are three types of verbal phrases: gerund phrases, infinitive phrases, and participial phrases.
