- An adjective is a word that describes a person, place, thing, or event.

- Particles are tiny pieces that come together to form a substance.
- Many animals live beneath the Earth's surface.
Lesson 4: From the Earth
- The Law of Conservation of Matter explains that matter cannot be created nor destroyed.
- All matter is a natural resource or is made from natural resources.
Lesson 5: Rocks
- Minerals are the building blocks of rocks.
- A geologist is a scientist who studies rocks and minerals.
Lesson 6: Water, Water Everywhere
- The ocean has salt water.
- Lakes, rivers, and ponds have fresh water.
- A model is a simple example of a more complex object.
Lesson 7: Taking Care of the Earth
- Recycling is when materials like paper, glass, and plastic are collected and processed into new items.
- Pollution is when waste from humans is left in the environment.
