Texas Homeschool Laws

In Texas, you do NOT need to

notify the school district,
have your curriculum approved, or
submit to standardized testing.

You just have to get started!

If the school district contacts you regarding your child's school attendance, you just need to provide them with a statement of assurance that you are homeschooling. If you need help completing a letter of assurance, these links may be useful:

Ongoing Requirements

Once you have withdrawn from the public school system, there are few requirements for homeschooling your child. No state exams. No official home visits. No submitting your curriculum for review. The only requirement is that you use a written curriculum that covers the following topics:
