Math Student Activity Book - Semester 1

Sku: 2207

The Math Student Activity Book – Semester 1 contains student activity pages that align with the lesson plans in the Math Parent Manual – Semester 1. Throughout the first semester of the math curriculum for ages 6-8, students use these pages to strengthen their number sense by exploring patterns, understanding how numbers are organized, and recognizing relationships between numbers and operations.

If you are using the hard copy version of this curriculum with more than one child, you should order a separate Student Activity Book for each additional child you are teaching.

The following examples highlight just a few of the ways students use the activity pages to organize their thinking, document their discoveries, and complete hands-on projects:

  • Number Pattern Activities: Students use number grids and activity pages to identify and color counting patterns, compare patterns created by skip-counting, and make a personal number pattern book that shows different patterns using numbers such as 5, 10, 4, and 6.
  • Array and Addition Projects: Students use the activity pages to identify rows and columns in arrays, write repeated-addition sentences to match them, and design their own arrays. They also apply this understanding in projects such as “Arrayville,” where they create buildings with window arrays that meet specific mathematical requirements.
  • Geometry and Shape Activities: Students identify and describe shapes by recording their sides, angles, and vertices, explore polygons with different numbers of sides, and create geometric artwork using cut-out shapes.
  • Place Value Practice: Students use activity pages to break numbers into tens and ones, write numbers in expanded form, compare two-digit numbers, and represent numbers in multiple ways. They also practice recognizing how the value of a digit changes depending on its place in a number.
  • Measurement Investigations: Students estimate and record lengths during hands-on measuring activities, compare objects using different units, and solve measurement problems involving inches, feet, centimeters, and meters.

The Student Activity Book is not designed to be used independently. The Math Parent Manual – Semester 1, required literature, and math materials kit are also required to implement the curriculum.
