Age 7-9 Math Materials Kit

Sku: 2301
$75.00

The Age 7-9 Math Materials Kit provides materials used in Age 7-9 math activities throughout the full year. Students build multiplication fact families, regroup four-digit numbers on an abacus, measure capacity, compare area and perimeter, and combine fraction pieces as they develop multiplication, division, place value, measurement, geometry, and fraction skills.

Build a Deeper Understanding of Math Concepts

This kit provides almost 40 materials used in activities throughout the math units. Here are a few examples your child will complete.

  • Connect Multiplication and Division: Your child rolls dice and uses dominoes to create multiplication and division fact families. Counters provide a way to check each equation, helping your child see how the same three numbers can form two multiplication facts and two related division facts.
  • Make Four-Digit Regrouping Visible: Using an abacus, your child represents four-digit numbers and exchanges 10 ones for a ten, 10 tens for a hundred, and 10 hundreds for a thousand. Moving and trading the beads makes regrouping concrete and connects place-value exchanges with written addition.
  • Examine the Relationship Between Area and Perimeter: Your child creates nine rectangles and squares with the same perimeter, calculates each area, and arranges the shapes from smallest to largest. Comparing the results shows that figures with equal perimeters can have very different areas.
  • Build a Whole with Different Fractions: Your child rolls a fraction cube and combines fraction strips representing halves, fourths, and eighths. Comparing the pieces with one whole helps your child see how different fractional parts relate and how several fractions can combine to make an equal whole.

Making Hands-On Math Easier to Implement

Math concepts often become easier to understand when children can physically build, move, measure, and compare them. The Age 7-9 Math Materials Kit provides manipulatives used throughout these activities, giving your child concrete ways to test mathematical relationships and connect what they do with the ideas they are learning
