During this introductory unit on multiplication and division, your child will develop a conceptual understanding of multiplication and will learn how to model this operation in a variety of ways, including arrays, equal groups, and number lines.

He will explore the commutative property of multiplication and will practice multiplication facts that include multiples of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10. After developing a solid foundation for multiplication, your child will explore division and its relationship to multiplication. He will begin to create multiplication and division fact families as an additional way to master his math facts. Along the way, he will solve problems using multiplication and division.

For the unit final project, he will show what he knows about modeling multiplication and the multiples of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10 by creating multiples mini-posters.
