Age 10-12 - Semester 2 - Science Kit

$85.99

The Age 10-12 - Semester 2 - Science Kit provides specialized materials for hands-on investigations in units Matter, Chemical Change, and Cells. These activities help children identify mystery elements, test chemical reactions, investigate living systems, and observe cells under a microscope.

Engage Your Child with a Hands-on Science Curriculum

This kit includes over 45 materials used in experiments throughout the semester. Here are a few examples your child will complete.

  • Explore How Electricity Can Separate a Compound: Your child uses a battery, alligator clips, pencils, and water to observe bubbles forming as water separates into hydrogen and oxygen. The experiment demonstrates how a compound differs from the elements that form it.
  • Discover Evidence of a Chemical Change: Your child combines baking soda and vinegar in a sealed bag and observes bubbles, inflation, and a temperature change. These results show how gas production and temperature changes can provide evidence that a chemical reaction occurred.
  • Test How Environmental Conditions Affect Living Organisms: Your child creates brine shrimp habitats and changes one factor, such as light, salinity, or temperature. Tracking and comparing the hatcheries shows how abiotic factors can affect living organisms.
  • Observe Your Own Cells Under a Microscope: Your child prepares a cheek-cell slide with methylene blue and examines it under a microscope. This allows your child to connect cell structures such as the membrane, cytoplasm, and nucleus to cells from the human body.

A Complete Hands-On Science Experience

Hands-on science can require families to gather specialized supplies for different investigations. This kit provides materials used throughout the semester’s activities, reducing preparation and helping parents focus on guiding testing, observation, comparison, and scientific conclusions.
