The Age 6-8 Materials Kit - S, SS, LA provides materials used in Age 6-8 science, social studies, and language arts curriculum activities across the full year. These activities help students model water pollution, test how friction affects a toy car, compare how teamwork changes task time, trace inherited traits, and more as they explore Earth science, communities, motion, heredity, and states of matter.

Hands-On Curriculum Makes Learning Memorable

This kit provides over 90 materials used in activities throughout the year. Here are a few examples your child will complete.

• Investigate How Liquids Behave When Mixed: Your child predicts what will happen when water, oil, and detergent are combined, then tests each mixture and compares the results. Seeing which liquids mix and how the mixture changes overnight helps connect direct observations with the challenge of detecting some forms of water pollution.
• Compare Plant Growth in Light and Darkness: Your child plants lima bean seeds in two cups, places one in sunlight and one in darkness, and predicts how each will grow. After a week, your child compares the plants and measures their roots or sprouts, helping show how sunlight affects plant growth.
• Test How Different Surfaces Affect Motion: Your child sends a toy car down a ramp onto rough and smooth surfaces and measures how far it travels. Comparing the distances shows how friction changes motion, with rougher surfaces slowing the car more than smoother ones.
• Explore How Traits Pass Between Generations: Your child builds creatures with different body and antenna traits, then creates new generations using traits from their parents. Recording and comparing each generation makes heredity visible and shows how offspring can resemble their parents while still having different combinations of traits.

Making Hands-On Activities Easier to Implement

Hands-on learning across science, social studies, and language arts can involve many different supplies. The Age 6-8 Materials Kit - S, SS, LA brings together materials used across these activities, reducing preparation and helping families focus on observing, questioning, creating, comparing, and discussing what their child learns
