Age 7-9 - Semester 2 - Science Kit

$90.00

The Age 7-9 - Semester 2 - Science Kit supports hands-on investigations in units Lifecycles, The Water Cycle, and The Rain Forest. These activities help children use real objects and simple models to make scientific concepts easier to observe and understand.

Engage Your Child with a Hands-on Science Curriculum

This kit includes over 50 items that are used in experiments throughout the semester. Here are a few examples your child will complete.

  • Explore How an Egg Supports New Life: Your child compares cooked and uncooked eggs and examines their internal structures with a magnifying glass. These observations show how the yolk and other parts of an egg support a developing animal.
  • Discover Where Water on a Cold Glass Comes From: Your child adds colored water and ice to a dry glass, then observes water forming on the outside. By comparing the colors, your child discovers that water vapor in the air can cool and become liquid water.
  • Investigate the Surface Tension of Water: Your child sprinkles pepper on water, touches the surface with a soapy toothpick, and observes the pepper move. The test demonstrates how soap changes water’s surface tension.
  • Understand How Much of Earth’s Water We Can Use: Your child measures and separates water to represent salt water, frozen water, groundwater, and available surface fresh water. Comparing the amounts shows that only a small portion of Earth’s water is available for drinking.
  • Discover Rain Forest Products Through Smell: Your child smells hidden rain forest foods and spices and uses sensory clues to identify them. This investigation connects familiar household foods and spices to the rain forest plants that produce them.
