The Age 11-13 Math program, along with our Age 10–12 Math program, follows an accelerated middle school track. Together, they cover all 6th–8th grade math standards in two years—preparing students to start Algebra in 8th grade.

For families who prefer a traditional pace, we offer an alternate three-year schedule. This option allows students to begin Algebra in 9th grade instead.

Semester 1

Unit 1: Numbers
Students explore operations with rational numbers, including rules for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing signed numbers, and convert between fractions, decimals, and rational/irrational numbers.

Unit 2: Proportions
Students identify, represent, and solve problems involving proportional relationships using tables, graphs, equations, and real-world applications like tax, discounts, and unit pricing.

Unit 3: Expressions 
Students manipulate algebraic expressions and solve one- and two-step equations, connecting equations to real-world contexts and understanding how to represent and compare quantities algebraically.

Unit 4: Probability
Students learn to calculate, model, and interpret probabilities (simple and compound), and use simulations and visual models like lists and tree diagrams to analyze likelihood.

Semester 2

Unit 5: Functions
Students define functions and compare linear and nonlinear relationships using graphs, tables, and equations, while interpreting slope and y-intercept in real-world contexts.

Unit 6: Geometry
Students explore transformations, congruence, similarity, the Pythagorean Theorem, and volume formulas to solve geometric problems involving shapes, coordinates, and measurement.

Unit 7: Linear Equations
Students solve linear equations with one variable and systems of equations with two variables, using graphing, substitution, and elimination, and apply these concepts to real-life decision-making scenarios.

Unit 8: Data
Students investigate relationships between variables using scatter plots, fit lines to data, interpret slope and intercept, and analyze two-way tables to find associations in categorical data.
